The Dark Knight Reborn: David Finch In Manila!
DC Comics writer and artist David Finch is coming to Manila this March. He'll be flying in for a series of book signings and talks from March 11 to 13. Details can be found here. Aside from book signings and talks, there's also going to be a Batman art contest for kids and adult fans alike. Mechanics of this contest can be viewed here. I hope I get to attend one of his talks. This event is presented by Fully Booked, and co-presented by Comic Odyssey and BGC.

BARGAIN BIN FIND: ES: Eternal Sabbath Vol 2
I found this while my friends and I were strolling in SM Pampanga the other day, after going to the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Clark. We were walking around the mall when we passed by National Bookstore which had some tables outside the store with tables laden with marked down books. We bee-lined to the table that had mostly manga on it, and started going through the piles. My friends didn't find anything, but I found this.
The book originally retailed for Php 395.00, and I got it for the very sweet price of Php 75.00! A total steal, considering all the pages are intact and the book looks good overall save for a bit of wear on the cover and back's edges.
ES: Eternal Sabbath is an 8-volume manga series written by Fuyumi Soryo. It tells the tale of two boys with telepathic powers who were bred in a lab by scientists that were developing a special gene for immortality. Both boys were bred specifically to be observed and be guinea pigs; but only one was meant to live and the other was bred to be dissected. The original, Japanese manga was published by Kodansha and the English Language version by Del Rey.
I got into this manga when I found volumes 3 and 4 in a sale pile at a National Bookstore branch in Quezon City. I have since found volume 5 at another sale bin in National Bookstore at SM North Edsa. So now I have volumes 2, 3, 4, and 5. The hunt is still on for the rest. Hopefully, they're in a bargain bin somewhere waiting for me to find them.

The Avengers Superbowl Spot
One word: AMAZING. I can't wait for the movie to come out! Avengers hits US theaters in May. I wonder what's the release date over my side of the pond.

Free Comics For The 2012 Free Comic Book Day
Free Comic Book Day is a global annual event that takes place on the first Saturday of May. Here in the Philippines, it is celebrated not only on the first Saturday of May, but also on the last Saturday of the month. Comic book stores like Comic Odyssey, Planet X Comics and Druids Keep all celebrate FCBD on the first Saturday of May; bookstore chain Fully Booked holds it's Free Comic Book day celebration on the last Saturday of the month. I guess we are very fortunate over here as we get to celebrate it twice.
Freecomicbookday.com has already posted the free comics for this year's Free Comic Book Day on it's website. Among the titles posted, I'd like to get my hands on DC Comics The New 52, Witchblade: Unbalanced Pieces, Worlds of Aspen, Image 2.0 and the Avengers. Hopefully this time around, I'd be able to get all the titles that I want because the stores run out of free comics really fast.

HAULS: 1993 WildCATS Trading Cards
They're finally here! My set of WildCATS trading cards arrived 2 days ago. I asked my brother to order this set for me from Ebay , which was roughly Php300.00 give or take.
These came out sometime in 1993, and features artwork taken from the first four issues of WildCATS. These were done by one of my favorite comic book artist of all time- Jim Lee. But aside from his work, this card set also features artwork from other Image Comics artists of that time, such as Sal Regla, Brett Booth and Marc Silvestri.
This set that I got is a complete base set of 100 cards, and does not include the special prism cards. I'm perfectly fine with not getting the prism cards, because it is quite hard to find a full set. Anyways, I'm sure a set of those prism cards would eventually show up on Ebay, so I'm keeping my eyes open.
