Futurama Conquers The Universe

This Futurama book is the first trade I bought from the bargain pile of NBS. It's a second-hand book that I found in the SALE pile outside the store a few years ago. It was at one time the property of a library abroad, based on the sticker on the spine and the stamps inside the book. I'm guessing, once upon a time, this lived it's life as a paperback at that library, and that it was just hardbound to minimize wear. I got it for only Php 99.00. What a steal!

FINDS: X-Men First Class Finals #2; Supurbia #9 and Atlantis #3

I found these three on a recent trip to the comic book store. I was done doing errands and was just killing time while I waited for my family. We were going to have dinner somewhere nearby to celebrate my mother's birthday. I decided to pop into a comic book shop while waiting for their call.

I figured I only have a very short time to check out the comics before I need to leave for dinner, so I  made a point of first checking out the X-men bins.

All back issues in the bins, including the X-men comics, were marked down to PHP 50.00. It was in those bins that I found a lot of X-men First Class titles, including X-men First Class: Finals #2! I've been searching for it for some time now because it's the last issue I needed to complete the Finals miniseries which had a total of four issues.

After finishing flipping through the X-men comics, I switched to the other side where the Php 20.00 comics were. This is where I found Supurbia #9 and Atlantis #3.

I kind of feel like an idiot for buying Atlantis #3, because when I got home I found out I already have one in my collection.  I've completely forgotten! But on the bright side, it is in a much nicer condition than the previous copy I own, so I'll just swap that out with this one.

   
Supurbia #9 was actually a bit of surprise, because I thought it was only a four-part miniseries. I already have the first few issues of the miniseries. Later, I did a search online when I got home and learned that the title has 14 issues to date. So I guess there are more for me to hunt down.

It wasn't long after that I had to leave because my family is already near. So I paid for my bunch of printed geeky goods and off I went, happy with the thought that I can finally finish reading one of the titles I've been trying to complete.

I Went to TOYCON 2015 and All I Bought Were Comics

First post for 2016!

Yes. I went to TOYCON and bought comics. Plus a magazine, a few postcards and some trading cards, too. Okay, I actually bought some toy-related accessories: a couple of Marvel Legends flight stands. But enough about the flight stands, let's get to the comics and everything else that I got.

First up are the comic books and magazine that I got at Comic Odyssey's booth. Every year they have a massive booth filled with good stuff. This year was no exception.

 I finally got around to sorting through the pics I took from this year's TOYCON. I only went on the first day because I wasn't free to go to the succeeding days of the con. I met up with my usual con buddies and we went around looking through bins  and tables of stuff, and shooting pictures of just about everything. Here are some of what I took.

TOYCON 2015

Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron at The Block

These photos are from the Avengers: Age of Ultron Experience at The Block, SM City North Edsa. The exhibit opened on April 20, a couple of days before the latest Avenger's movie opened in theaters.

DC Comics Super Hero World Record Event Philippines

 

Warner Bros. Consumer Products SEA and Greater China in collaboration with DC Entertainment, has partnered with Pacific Licensing Studio and SM City North Edsa in Manila to set a world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as DC Comics Super Heroes. Manila will join 15 cities around the globe in an attempt to break the record within 24 hours. 

At the event, fans dressed as DC Comics Super Heroes will gather to celebrate with interactive games and activities inspired by the famed world of DC Comics before formally attempting to set the world record. The DC Comics Super Hero World Record Event will kick off April 18, 2015 in Queensland, Australia and will commence in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

Pacific Licensing Studio recently held a press conference to launch their upcoming events this April called "World of DC'. This comprises the release of new merchandise at the SM Store, events and activities that will all happen next weekend.

That was the dilemma. My friends and I decided to hit both events.We first went to Komikon and afterwards went on to TAGCOM.

SUMMER KOMIKON 2014

The Philippine's Komiks Convention's Summer Komikon was held at the Bayanihan Center in Pasig city. My friends and I planned on going as early as 10 but I think we actually made it there at a little after 1 PM. The entrance fee was still Php 100, same as it was the year before.

BACKLOG BLUES: Photos From The 12th Philippine Toys, Games and Hobbies Convention

It's June once again and that means 3 things over here. 1) Summer is over and the rainy season is coming; 2) Classes resume and 3) IT'S TIME FOR TOYCON!!!

It was thoughts about the upcoming 2014 TOYCON that brought the realization  I haven't posted the photos from TOYCON 2013 yet.  They've been sitting in a folder in my hard drive for almost a year now, untouched and forgotten, until I uncovered them while I was sorting through my photo files these past couple of days. So here they are now-- better late than never right? 

New DC Comics Stuff at The SM Store

Remember this post? Well, this is what it's all about.

The SM Store and Pacific Licensing Studio recently unveiled Justice League: Heroes United @ The SM Store. This store-wide program will feature merchandise designs based on characters from DC's New 52. For those not in the know, the New 52 is the current, rebooted universe of DC Comics, where our favorite characters all got a fresh start that included new looks and character biographies. So don't be surprised to see Superman without his trademark red briefs-- he's finally learned the proper way of wearing one is in his pants.
